Connecting with Other-Than-Human in Conservation and Apiculture
August 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm PDT
We are a living Earth-Community with many ways of being and knowing and different forms of agency, sentience, intelligence, and communication. How do forests think? Who is the river in front of us? And, who are the other non-human communities that constitute the global congregation of beings? What are the will forces of the Apian Being? Ceremonies and rituals are a medium for communication and play a crucial role in establishing a sense of belonging among human, non-human and other than human beings. Our experience in ceremony blurs the boundaries between the seen and unseen realms. New voices in conservation “recognize that effective environmental action has to be embodied action: in other words that it has to be ritualistic” (F. Apffel-Marglin). By practicing gratitude, attentive listening, and purposeful movement, you will discover the ritual gestures necessary to feel your connection with the pulse of life. As we create simple ceremonies and rituals, we can develop our own unique practices and languages to commune with a diverse community of beings.
This live stream event promises to cultivate an environment conducive to interactive learning and robust discourse, fostering vibrant exchanges among participants irrespective of their level of beekeeping expertise. Join us in reimagining the future of beekeeping, harmonizing with the wisdom of the natural world.
This is the sixth of 7 sessions that also can be booked individually. Each session will be recorded and a link shared with participants. Scholarships available per request.
