Arboreal Apiculture Salon #49

August 12 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

We are delighted to welcome Ivan Pigarev to the Salon.

Ivan is an entrepreneur, publisher, designer, farmer, and father of many children. A graduate of Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, he has spent the past decade turning his attention to honey bees, their biology, and the popularization of apiology across Russia. He is the founder of the Association for Natural Beekeeping in Russia, and a dedicated science communicator who lectures on bees to audiences ranging from university students to the business world. Through the Association’s work, Ivan and his team are engaged in several projects: preserving the dark forest bee population in Russia and studying free-living bees in the forests of central Russia. He has also brought several of Thomas Seeley’s books to Russian readers through his own translations, with further publishing projects on the horizon.

Please join us for a conversation that reaches across borders into the wild and free-living honey bees of the Russian forest.
