Apis Arborea at Apimondia 2025

We are honored to share that Michael Thiele, Executive Director of Apis Arborea, has been invited to present at Apimondia 2025, the world’s premier international beekeeping conference, taking place this September in Copenhagen.

Michael will present groundbreaking insights from our long-term research project at the Galbreath Wildlands Preserve, where wild, free-living honeybee colonies have flourished with striking resilience. In contrast to the alarming decline in managed honeybee populations, these wild colonies offer a powerful counter-narrative—one rooted in ecological balance, evolutionary intelligence, and self-sustaining vitality.

His talk will explore how these thriving wild populations illuminate a compass point for a new agricultural paradigm—one that is regenerative, decentralized, and guided by the principles of biomimicry and deep ecology. At a time when industrial apiculture faces mounting challenges, the lessons from the wild offer hope, direction, and a path forward.
